26 There is one who covets greedily all the day long; But the righteous gives and does not withhold.
12 All things are lawful for me; but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful for me; but I will not be brought under the power of any.
8 Be sober, be watchful: your{} adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour,
13 Woe [to you{}], you{} who laugh now! For you{} will mourn and weep.
28 Or can one walk on hot coals, And his feet not be scorched?
1 BOOK II. For the Chief Musician. Maschil of the sons of Korah. As a doe pants after the water brooks, So my soul pants after you, O God.
4 by which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you{} may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in that world by desire.
1 I made a covenant with my eyes; How then should I look at a virgin?
8 Yes, in the way of your judgments, O Yahweh, we have waited for you; to your name, even to your memorial [name], is the desire of our soul.
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you{} will not fulfill the desire of the flesh.
2 You{} lust and don't have; so you{} kill. And you{} covet and cannot obtain; so you{} fight and war. You{} don't have, because you{} don't ask.
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God can't be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no man:
7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nevertheless, I had not known sin, except through the law: for I had not known coveting, except the law had said, You will not covet:
13 No trial has taken you{} but such as man can bear: but God is faithful, who will not allow you{} to be tried above what you{} are able; but will with the trial also make the way of escape, that you{} may be able to endure it.
2 But, because of fornications, let each have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.
16 For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
4 [Let] marriage [be] had in honor among all, and [let] the bed [be] undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil: which some reaching after have been led astray from the faith, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
17 And the world passes away, and its desire: but he who does the will of God stays forever.
21 And as you{} would that men should do to you{}, do{} to them likewise.
5 Put to death therefore your{} members which are on the earth: fornication, impurity, immoral sexual passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry;
13 For you{}, brothers, were called for freedom; only [do] not [use] your{} freedom for an occasion to the flesh, but through love serve as slaves to one another.
5 Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For [riches] certainly make themselves wings, Like an eagle that flies toward heaven.
1 Brothers, even if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you{} who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to yourself, lest you also be tempted.
