3 He was despised, and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and as one from whom men hide their face he was despised; and we did not esteem him.
4 Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, struck of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was on him; and with his stripes we are healed.
14 Since then the children have shared in flesh and blood, he also himself in like manner partook of the same; that through death he might bring to nothing him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 and might deliver all those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to slavery.

17 Therefore the Father loves me, because I lay down my life, that I may take it again.
18 No one takes it away from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I received from my Father.

8 and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, becoming obedient [even] to death, yes, the death of the cross.
21 For hereunto were you{} called: because Christ also suffered for you{}, leaving you{} an example, that you{} should follow his steps:
22 who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23 who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered did not threaten; but delivered [himself] to him who judges righteously:
24 who his own self bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you{} were healed.
38 And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, Before the rooster crows, you will deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
