Und ganz Israel wurde nach seinen Geschlechtern aufgezeichnet; und siehe! sie stehen geschrieben im Buche der Könige von Israel und Juda. Sie wurden weggeführt nach Babel um der Vergehungen willen. 
Und die ersten Einwohner, welche in ihre Besitzung, in ihren Städten, wohnten, waren: Israel, die Priester, die Leviten, und die Tempeldiener. 
Und zu Jerusalem wohnten von den Söhnen Juda's, und von den Söhnen Benjamins, und von den Söhnen Ephraims und Manasse's. 
Uthai, der Sohn Ammihuds, des Sohnes Omri's, des Sohnes Imri's, des Sohnes Bani's, von den Söhnen des Perez, des Sohnes Juda's. 
Und von den Silonitern: Asaja, der Erstgeborne, und seine Söhne. 
Und von den Söhnen Serahs: Jeguel, und ihre Brüder, sechs hundert und neunzig. 
Und von den Söhnen Benjamins: Sallu, der Sohn Meschullams, des Sohnes Hodavja's, des Sohnes Hassenua's; 
und Jibneja, der Sohn Jerohams, und Ela, der Sohn Ussi's, des Sohnes Michri's; und Meschullam, der Sohn Schephatja's, des Sohnes Reguels, des Sohnes Jibnia's; 
und ihre Brüder, nach ihren Geschlechtern, neun hundert und sechs und fünfzig. Alle diese Männer waren väterliche Häupter ihrer väterlichen Häuser. 
Und von den Priestern: Jedaja, und Jobjarib, und Jachin, 
und Asarja, der Sohn Hilkia's, des Sohnes Meschullams, des Sohnes Zadoks, des Sohnes Merajoths, des Sohnes Ahitubs, der Vorsteher des Hauses Gottes; 
und Adaja, der Sohn Jerohams, des Sohnes Paschhurs, des Sohnes Malchia's; und Masai, der Sohn Adiels, des Sohnes Jahsera's, des Sohnes Meschullams, des Sohnes Meschillemiths, des Sohnes Immers. 
Und ihre Brüder, Häupter ihrer väterlichen Häuser, tausend sieben hundert und sechzig, tüchtige Männer, zum Geschäfte des Dienstes im Hause Gottes. 
Und von den Leviten: Schemaja, der Sohn Haschschubs, des Sohnes Asrikams, des Sohnes Haschabja's, von den Söhnen Merari's; 
und Bakbakkar, Heresch, und Galal, und Mathanja, der Sohn Micha's, des Sohnes Sichri's, des Sohnes Asaphs. 
Und Obadja, der Sohn Schemaja's, des Sohnes Galals, des Sohnes Jeduthuns; und Berechja, der Sohn Asa's, des Sohnes Elkana's, welcher in den Dörfern der Netophathiter wohnte. 
Und die Thürhüter: Schallum, und Akkub, und Talmon, und Ahiman, und ihre Brüder; Schallum war das Haupt. 
Und bis dahin waren sie am Königsthore gegen Morgen; sie waren die Thürhüter des Lagers der Söhne Levi's. 
Und Schallum, der Sohn Kore's, des Sohnes Ebjasaphs, des Sohnes Korahs, und seine Brüder vom Hause seines Vaters, die Korahiter, waren über das Geschäft des Dienstes, und sie bewachten die Schwellen des Zeltes; und ihre Väter waren über das Lager Jehova's, und bewachten den Eingang. 
Und Pinehas, der Sohn Eleasars, war Fürst über sie vor Zeiten. Jehova sey mit ihm! 
Secharja, der Sohn Meschelemja's, war Thürhüter des Versammlungszeltes. 
Alle diese, auserlesen zu Thürhütern an den Schwellen, waren zwei hundert und zwölf. Sie waren nach ihren Dörfern verzeichnet; David, und Samuel, der Seher, hatten sie eingesetzt wegen ihrer Treue. 
Sie und ihre Söhne hielten Wache an den Thoren des Hauses Jehova's, des Hauses des Zeltes. 
Nach den vier Winden standen die Thürhüter, gegen Aufgang, gegen Westen, gegen Norden, und gegen Süden. 
Und ihre Brüder wohnten in ihren Dörfern, und kamen je auf sieben Tage von Zeit zu Zeit zu ihnen. 
Denn wegen ihrer Treue wurden diese vier Vorsteher der Thürhüter, sie waren Leviten, und sie waren gesetzt über die Zellen und Schätze des Hauses Gottes, 
und sie übernachteten rings um das Haus Gottes her; denn ihnen war die Wache anvertraut, und sie hatten den Schlüssel, (um aufzumachen,) jeden Morgen. 
Und Etliche von ihnen waren gesetzt über die Geräthe des Dienstes; denn sie trugen sie nach der Zahl hinein, und trugen sie nach der Zahl hinaus. 
Und Etliche von ihnen waren gesetzt über die Geräthe, über sämmtliche Geräthe des Heiligthums, und über das Mehl, und über den Wein, und das Oel, und den Weihrauch, und die Gewürze. 
Und Etliche von den Söhnen der Priester bereiteten die Salbe aus den Gewürzen. 
Und Mathithja, Einer der Leviten, der Erstgeborne Schallums, des Korahiters, war wegen seiner Treue über das Pfannenbackwerk gesetzt. 
Und Etliche von den Kehathitern, ihren Brüdern, waren über die Schaubrode gesetzt, um sie jeden Sabbath zu bereiten. 
Und dieß sind die Sänger, die väterlichen Häupter der Leviten, die vom Zellendienste frei waren; denn Tag und Nacht waren sie im Geschäfte. 
Das sind die väterlichen Häupter der Leviten, nach ihren Geschlechtern, die Häupter; sie wohnten zu Jerusalem. 
Und zu Gibeon wohnte der Vater Gibeons, Jegiel; und der Name seines Weibes war Maacha. 
Und sein erstgeborner Sohn war Abdon, dann Zur, und Kis, und Baal, und Ner, und Nadab, 
und Gedor, und Ahio, und Secharja, und Mikloth. 
Und Mikloth zeugete Schimeam. Und auch diese wohnten, ihren Brüdern gegenüber, mit ihren Brüdern zu Jerusalem. 
Und Ner zeugete Kis, und Kis zeugete Saul, und Saul zeugete Jonathan, und Malchischuah, und Abinadab, und Eschbaal. 
Und der Sohn Jonathans war Meribbaal, und Meribbaal zeugete Micha. 
Und die Söhne Micha's waren: Pithon, und Melech, und Thahrea. 
Und Ahas zeugete Jara, und Jara zeugete Alemeth, und Asmaveth, und Simri; und Simri zeugete Moza, 
und Moza zeugete Binea; der Sohn dieses war Rephaja, der Sohn dieses Elasa, der Sohn dieses Azel. 
Und Azel hatte sechs Söhne, und dieß sind die Namen: Asrikam, Bochru, und Ismael, und Secharja, und Obadja, und Hanan. Dieß sind die Söhne Azels. 

So all Israel were reckoned by genealogies; and, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel: and Judah was carried away captive to Babylon for their transgression. 2 Now the first inhabitants that dwelt in their possessions in their cities were Israel, the priests, the Levites, and the Nethinim. 3 And in Jerusalem dwelt of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim and Manasseh: 4 Uthai the son of Ammihud, the son of Omri, the son of Imri, the son of Bani, of the children of Perez the son of Judah. 5 And of the Shilonites: Asaiah the first-born, and his sons. 6 And of the sons of Zerah: Jeuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety. 7 And of the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Hodaviah, the son of Hassenuah, 8 and Ibneiah the son of Jeroham, and Elah the son of Uzzi, the son of Michri, and Meshullam the son of Shephatiah, the son of Reuel, the son of Ibnijah; 9 and their brethren, according to their generations, nine hundred and fifty and six. All these men were heads of fathers’ houses by their fathers’ houses. 
And of the priests: Jedaiah, and Jehoiarib, Jachin, 11 and Azariah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, the ruler of the house of God; 12 and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pashhur, the son of Malchijah, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jahzerah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Meshillemith, the son of Immer; 13 and their brethren, heads of their fathers’ houses, a thousand and seven hundred and threescore; very able men for the work of the service of the house of God. 
And of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, of the sons of Merari; 15 and Bakbakkar, Heresh, and Galal, and Mattaniah the son of Mica, the son of Zichri, the son of Asaph, 16 and Obadiah the son of Shemaiah, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun, and Berechiah the son of Asa, the son of Elkanah, that dwelt in the villages of the Netophathites. 
And the porters: Shallum, and Akkub, and Talmon, and Ahiman, and their brethren (Shallum was the chief), 18 who hitherto waited in the king’s gate eastward: they were the porters for the camp of the children of Levi. 19 And Shallum the son of Kore, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah, and his brethren, of his father’s house, the Korahites, were over the work of the service, keepers of the thresholds of the tent: and their fathers had been over the camp of Jehovah, keepers of the entry. 20 And Phinehas the son of Eleazar was ruler over them in time past, and Jehovah was with him. 21 Zechariah the son of Meshelemiah was porter of the door of the tent of meeting. 22 All these that were chosen to be porters in the thresholds were two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their office of trust. 23 So they and their children had the oversight of the gates of the house of Jehovah, even the house of the tent, by wards. 24 On the four sides were the porters, toward the east, west, north, and south. 25 And their brethren, in their villages, were to come in every seven days from time to time to be with them: 26 for the four chief porters, who were Levites, were in an office of trust, and were over the chambers and over the treasuries in the house of God. 27 And they lodged round about the house of God, because the charge thereof was upon them; and to them pertained the opening thereof morning by morning. 
And certain of them had charge of the vessels of service; for by count were these brought in and by count were these taken out. 29 Some of them also were appointed over the furniture, and over all the vessels of the sanctuary, and over the fine flour, and the wine, and the oil, and the frankincense, and the spices. 30 And some of the sons of the priests prepared the confection of the spices. 31 And Mattithiah, one of the Levites, who was the first-born of Shallum the Korahite, had the office of trust over the things that were baked in pans. 32 And some of their brethren, of the sons of the Kohathites, were over the showbread, to prepare it every sabbath. 
And these are the singers, heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers and were free from other service; for they were employed in their work day and night. 34 These were heads of fathers’ houses of the Levites, throughout their generations, chief men: these dwelt at Jerusalem. 
And in Gibeon there dwelt the father of Gibeon, Jeiel, whose wife’s name was Maacah; 36 and his first-born son Abdon, and Zur, and Kish, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab, 37 and Gedor, and Ahio, and Zechariah, and Mikloth. 38 And Mikloth begat Shimeam.
