1 Und Salomo fing an, das Haus Jehova's zu bauen zu Jerusalem, auf dem Berge Moria, der seinem Vater David war gezeigt worden, an dem Orte, welchen David auf der Tenne Ornans, des Jebusiters, bereitet hatte.

2 Und er fing an, zu bauen am zweiten Tage des zweiten Monats im vierten Jahre seiner Herrschaft.

3 Und dieß war der Grund, den Salomo zum Bau des Hauses Gottes legte, nach dem alten Ellenmaße, sechszig Ellen in der Länge und zwanzig Ellen in der Breite.

4 Und die Halle, die der Länge nach vor der Breite des Hauses war, hatte zwanzig Ellen, und hundert zwanzig Ellen in der Höhe; und innwendig überzog er sie mit reinem Golde.

5 Und das große Haus überzog er mit Tannenholz, und überzog es mit gutem Golde, und machte Palmzweige, und Kettenwerk darüber;

6 und überzog das Haus zur Zierde mit kostbaren Steinen, und das Gold war Gold aus Parvaim.

7 Und er überzog das Haus, und die Balken, und die Schwellen, und seine Wände, und seine Thüren mit Gold, und schnitzte Cherubim an die Wände.

8 Und er machte das Haus des Allerheiligsten, seine Länge nach der Breite des Hauses, zwanzig Ellen, und seine Breite zwanzig Ellen, und überzog es mit gutem Golde zu sechs hundert Talenten.

9 Und das Gewicht des Goldes zu den Nägeln betrug fünfzig Sekel. Auch die Obergemächer überzog er mit Gold.

10 Und im Hause des Allerheiligsten machte er zwei Cherubim von Bildhauerarbeit, und überzog sie mit Gold.

11 Und die Flügel der Cherubim waren zwanzig Ellen lang; der Flügel des Einen, fünf Ellen lang, berührte die Wand des Hauses, und der andere Flügel, fünf Ellen lang, berührte den Flügel des andern Cherub.

12 und der eine Flügel des Cherub, fünf Ellen lang, berührte die Wand des Hauses, und sein anderer Flügel, fünf Ellen lang, stieß an den Flügel des ersten Cherub.

13 Die Flügel dieser Cherubim waren zwanzig Ellen weit ausgebreitet. Und sie standen auf ihren Füßen, und ihre Gesichter waren nach Innen gerichtet.

14 Er machte auch einen Vorhang von blauem Purpur, und Purpur, und Kokkus, und feiner Leinwand, und machte Cherubim darauf.

15 Vor dem Hause aber machte er zwei Säulen, die fünf und dreißig Ellen hoch waren; und das Säulenhaupt, das oben darauf gesetzt wurde, war fünf Ellen hoch.

16 Und er machte Kettenwerk an das Allerheiligste, und setzte es an die Säulenhäupter; und machte hundert Granatäpfel, und setzte sie an das Kettenwerk.

17 Und er stellte die Säulen auf vor dem Tempel, eine zur Rechten, und eine zur Linken; und nannte den Namen der zur Rechten Jachin, und den Namen der zur Linken Boas.

1 Then Solomon began to build the house of Jehovah at Jerusalem on mount Moriah, where Jehovah appeared unto David his father, which he made ready in the place that David had appointed, in the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite. 2 And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign. 3 Now these are the foundations which Solomon laid for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits. 4 And the porch that was before the house, the length of it, according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the height a hundred and twenty; and he overlaid it within with pure gold. 5 And the greater house he ceiled with fir-wood, which he overlaid with fine gold, and wrought thereon palm-trees and chains. 6 And he garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and the gold was gold of Parvaim. 7 He overlaid also the house, the beams, the thresholds, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubim on the walls.

8 And he made the most holy house: the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house, was twenty cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits; and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents. 9 And the weight of the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid the upper chambers with gold.

10 And in the most holy house he made two cherubim of image work; and they overlaid them with gold. 11 And the wings of the cherubim were twenty cubits long: the wing of the one cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to the wing of the other cherub. 12 And the wing of the other cherub was five cubits, reaching to the wall of the house; and the other wing was five cubits also, joining to the wing of the other cherub. 13 The wings of these cherubim spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were toward the house. 14 And he made the veil of blue, and purple, and crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubim thereon.

15 Also he made before the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and the capital that was on the top of each of them was five cubits. 16 And he made chains in the oracle, and put them on the tops of the pillars; and he made a hundred pomegranates, and put them on the chains. 17 And he set up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.
