1 Und ich sah, und siehe! an der Wölbung über den Köpfen der Cherubim war es wie Sapphir, wie die Gestalt eines Thrones, was man über denselben sah.

2 Und er sprach zu dem Manne, welcher in Leinwand gekleidet war, und sagte: Gehe zwischen die Räder unter dem Cherub, nimm deine Hände voll glühender Kohlen zwischen den Cherubim heraus, und streue sie über die Stadt. Und er ging vor meinen Augen hin.

3 Die Cherubim standen auf der rechten Seite des Hauses, als der Mann hineinging; und eine Wolke erfüllte den innern Vorhof.

4 Und die Herrlichkeit Jehova's erhob sich vom Cherub nach der Schwelle des Hauses hin; und das Haus ward mit der Wolke angefüllt, und der Vorhof mit dem Glanze der Herrlichkeit Jehova's.

5 Bis in den äußeren Vorhof hin hörte man das rauschender Flügel der Cherubim, wie die Donnerstimme des allmächtigen Gottes, wenn er redet.

6 Als er nun dem in Leinwand gekleideten Manne geboten, und zu ihm gesagt hatte: Nimm Feuer zwischen den Rädern unter den Cherubim heraus; ging er hin, und trat neben das Rad.

7 Ein Cherub streckte seine Hand aus der Mitte der Cherubim nach dem Feuer, das zwischen den Cherubim war, und nahm davon, und gab es in die Hände des in Leinwand Gekleideten. Dieser nahm es, und ging fort.

8 Und man sah an den Cherubim die Gestalt einer Menschenhand unter ihren Flügeln.

9 Ich sah ferner, und siehe! es waren vier Räder neben den Cherubim, ein Rad neben dem einen Cherub, und ein Rad neben dem andern Cherub; und der Anblick der Räder war wie Chrysolith.

10 Und sie hatten alle Vier eine und dieselbe Gestalt, und es war wie wenn ein Rad in dem andern wäre.

11 Wenn sie gingen, so gingen sie nach ihren vier Seiten hin; sie wandten sich nicht um bei ihrem Gehen; sondern wohin der Kopf gerichtet war, dahin gingen sie; sie wandten sich nicht um bei ihrem Gehen.

12 Ihr ganzer Körper, Rücken, Hände, Flügel, und die Räder waren voll Augen rings umher, an allen vier Rädern.

13 Den Rädern rief man vor meinen Ohren zu: Galgal (Sturm)!

14 Ein Jedes hatte vier Gesichter; das erste Gesicht war das Gesicht eines Cherubs, das zweite das Gesicht eines Menschen, das dritte das Gesicht eines Löwen, das vierte das Gesicht eines Adlers.

15 Und die Cherubim hoben sich in die Höhe. Es waren eben dieselben Thiere, welche ich am Flusse Chebar gesehen hatte.

16 Und wenn die Cherubim gingen, gingen auch die Räder neben ihnen; und wenn die Cherubim ihre Flügel schwangen, um sich von der Erde zu heben, so wandten sich auch die Räder nicht von ihnen ab.

17 Standen jene, so blieben auch diese stehen; erhoben sich jene, so erhoben sich auch diese; denn es war der Geist der Thiere auch in ihnen.

18 Und es entfernte sich die Herrlichkeit Jehova's von der Schwelle des Hauses, und stellte sich über die Cherubim.

19 Die Cherubim schwangen ihre Flügel, und hoben sich von der Erde empor vor meinen Augen. Da sie hinaus flogen, folgten ihnen auch die Räder. Am östlichen Thore des Hauses Jehova's blieben sie stehen; und die Herrlichkeit des Gottes Israels war über ihnen.

20 Es waren eben dieselben Thiere, die ich unter dem Gott Israels am Flusse Chebar gesehen hatte; und ich erkannte, daß es Cherubim waren.

21 Jedes hatte je vier Gesichter, und Jedes vier Flügel; und unter ihren Flügeln war eine Gestalt von Menschenhänden.

22 Und die Gestalt ihrer Gesichter war ebenso, wie die Gesichter, welche ich am Flusse Chebar gesehen hatte. Sie sahen ebenso aus, und sie waren so. Jedes ging nach der Richtung seines Gesichtes hin.

1 Then I looked, and, behold, in the firmament that was over the head of the cherubim there appeared above them as it were a sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne. 2 And he spake unto the man clothed in linen, and said, Go in between the whirling wheels, even under the cherub, and fill both thy hands with coals of fire from between the cherubim, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight. 3 Now the cherubim stood on the right side of the house, when the man went in; and the cloud filled the inner court. 4 And the glory of Jehovah mounted up from the cherub, and stood over the threshold of the house; and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full of the brightness of Jehovah’s glory. 5 And the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard even to the outer court, as the voice of God Almighty when he speaketh. 6 And it came to pass, when he commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, Take fire from between the whirling wheels, from between the cherubim, that he went in, and stood beside a wheel. 7 And the cherub stretched forth his hand from between the cherubim unto the fire that was between the cherubim, and took thereof, and put it into the hands of him that was clothed in linen, who took it and went out. 8 And there appeared in the cherubim the form of a man’s hand under their wings.

9 And I looked, and behold, four wheels beside the cherubim, one wheel beside one cherub, and another wheel beside another cherub; and the appearance of the wheels was like unto a beryl stone. 10 And as for their appearance, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been within a wheel. 11 When they went, they went in their four directions: they turned not as they went, but to the place whither the head looked they followed it; they turned not as they went. 12 And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had. 13 As for the wheels, they were called in my hearing the whirling wheels. 14 And every one had four faces: the first face was the face of the cherub, and the second face was the face of a man, and the third the face of a lion, and the fourth the face of an eagle.

15 And the cherubim mounted up: this is the living creature that I saw by the river Chebar. 16 And when the cherubim went, the wheels went beside them; and when the cherubim lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the wheels also turned not from beside them. 17 When they stood, these stood; and when they mounted up, these mounted up with them: for the spirit of the living creature was in them.

18 And the glory of Jehovah went forth from over the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim. 19 And the cherubim lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight when they went forth, and the wheels beside them: and they stood at the door of the east gate of Jehovah’s house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

20 This is the living creature that I saw under the God of Israel by the river Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubim. 21 Every one had four faces, and every one four wings; and the likeness of the hands of a man was under their wings. 22 And as for the likeness of their faces, they were the faces which I saw by the river Chebar, their appearances and themselves; they went every one straight forward.
