1 Als sie nun nahe gegen Jerusalem und Bethanien"nahe bei Bethphage und Bethanien.." im Griechischen. an den Oelberg gekommen waren, sandte er zwei von seinen Jüngern aus,

2 und sprach zu ihnen: Gehet in den Flecken, der vor euch liegt; gleich beim Eintritte werdet ihr einen jungen Esel angebunden finden, auf dem noch Niemand gesessen ist; bindet ihn los und bringet ihn her.

3 Und wenn euch Jemand sagt, warum ihr das thuet? So saget: Der Herr hat ihn nöthig, und gleich wird er ihn hieher schicken.

4 Sie gingen hin, und fanden draußen am Scheidewege an der Thür einen jungen Esel angebunden und macheten ihn los.

5 Einige, die da standen, sprachen zu ihnen: Was machet ihr da, daß ihr den jungen Esel losbindet?

6 Sie sagten ihnen, wie Jesus ihnen aufgetragen; und man ließ es ihnen zu.

7 Sie führten nun den Esel zu Jesu, legten ihre Kleider darüber und er setzte sich auf denselben.

8 Viele breiteten ihre Kleider über den Weg hin; Andere hieben Zweige von den Bäumen und streueten sie auf den Weg.

9 Vor ihm und hinter ihm her rief man laut aus: Hosanna!

10 Hochgepriesen sey, der kommt im Namen des Herrn! Hochwillkommen das herannahende Reich unseres Vaters, Davids! Hosanna in der Höhe!

11 So zog Er zu Jerusalem ein, und ging in den Tempel. Nachdem er sich daselbst überall umgesehen hatte, ging er, da es schon spät an der Zeit war, mit den Zwölfen wieder hinaus nach Bethanien.

1 And when they draw nigh unto Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth two of his disciples, 2 and saith unto them, Go your way into the village that is over against you: and straightway as ye enter into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon no man ever yet sat; loose him, and bring him. 3 And if any one say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye, The Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him back hither. 4 And they went away, and found a colt tied at the door without in the open street; and they loose him. 5 And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt? 6 And they said unto them even as Jesus had said: and they let them go. 7 And they bring the colt unto Jesus, and cast on him their garments; and he sat upon him. 8 And many spread their garments upon the way; and others branches, which they had cut from the fields. 9 And they that went before, and they that followed, cried, Hosanna; Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord: 10 Blessed is the kingdom that cometh, the kingdom of our father David: Hosanna in the highest.

11 And he entered into Jerusalem, into the temple; and when he had looked round about upon all things, it being now eventide, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
