1 Einst versammelten sich bei ihm Pharisäer und Einige von den Schriftlehrern, die von Jerusalem gekommen.

2 Da sahen sie Einige seiner Jünger mit unreinen, das ist, mit ungewaschenen Händen Brod essen; sie tadelten es;sie tadelten es, steht nicht Griechischen.

3 (Denn die Pharisäer und alle Juden halten nämlich fest an der Satzung ihrer Vorältern: sie essen nicht, ohne sorgfältig die Hände gewaschen zu haben;

4 auch essen sie nichts, wenn sie vom Markte kommen, ohne sich zu waschen; und so gibt es noch viele andere Dinge, welche sie nach dem Herkommen halten, als: das Waschen der Becher, Krüge, ehernen Geschirre und Polstergestelle.)

5 Daher fragten ihn die Pharisäer und Schriftlehrer: Warum handeln deine Jünger nicht nach der Erblehre der Vorältern, sondern essen das Brod mit unreinen Händen?

6 Er aber antwortete und sprach zu ihnen: Von euch Heuchlern hat der Prophet Jesaias sehr treffend geweissagt, wie geschrieben ist: Dieses Volk ehrt mich mit den Lippen; ihr Herz aber ist weit von mir entfernt;

7 vergeblich ehren sie mich; sie lehren Satzungen, die Menschengebote sind;

8 denn Gottes Gebot setzet ihr beiseite, und haltet auf Menschensatzungen, auf Reinigungen der Krüge und Becher; und mit noch vielen andern solchen Dingen habet ihr es zu thun.

9 Auch sagte er zu ihnen: Gar fein wisset ihr Gottes Gebot zu entkräften, damit ihr bei euren Satzungen bleibet.

10 So hat Moses gesagt: Du sollst deinen Vater und deine Mutter ehren. Und wiederum: wer Vater oder Mutter flucht, der soll mit dem Tode bestraft werden.

11 Ihr aber saget: Wenn Einer zu Vater oder Mutter sagt: Korban: (das heißt: Tempelgabe) womit ich dir helfen könnte;

12 so lasset ihr es nicht zu, daß derselbe ferner etwas seinem Vater oder seiner Mutter gebe;

13 ungültig machet ihr Gottes Wort durch eure Satzungen, welche ihr verbreitet, und von der Art thut ihr Vieles.

14 Nun rief er das ganze Volk zu sich und redete zu ihm: Höret mir Alle zu, und fasset es wohl!

15 Nichts, was von außen in den Menschen hineinkommt, kann ihn verunreinigen; sondern was von ihm ausgeht, das ist es, was den Menschen verunreinigt.

16 Wer Ohren hat zu hören, der höre!

17 Als er sich nun vom Volke hinweg, in's Haus begab, fragten ihn seine Jünger wegen des Gleichnisses.

18 Und er sprach zu ihnen: Also seyd auch ihr noch so unverständig? sehet ihr denn nicht ein, daß Alles, was von außen in den Menschen eingeht, ihn nicht verunreinigen kann?

19 denn es kommt ja nicht in sein Herz, sondern in seinen Magen, und nimmt seinen natürlichen Ausweg, der das Unreine von allen Speisen abführt.

20 Er fuhr fort: Was aber aus dem Menschen hervorgeht, das verunreinigt den Menschen;

21 denn von innen, aus dem Herzen der Menschen, kommen böse Gedanken, Ehebruch, Hurerei, Mord,

22 Diebstahl, Geiz, Bosheit, Betrug, Schamlosigkeit, Neidesblick, Lästerung, Hoffart und Thorheit.

23 Alles dieses Böse kommt von innen heraus, und verunreinigt den Menschen.

24 Von da machete er sich auf und entfernte sich an die Grenzen von Tyrus und Sidon. Da kehrte er in ein Haus ein, und wünschte, daß ihn Niemand erkennen möchte; er konnte aber nicht unerkannt bleiben;

25 denn eine Frau, deren Tochter einen unreinen Geist hatte, hatte von ihm gehört; sie ging sogleich hinein, fiel ihm zu Füßen;

26 und bat ihn, den Teufel aus ihrer Tochter zu treiben. (Die Frau war eine Heidin, aus Syrophönizien gebürtig.)

27 ErJesus, nach dem Griechischen. sprach zu ihr: Laß erst die Kinder satt werden; es wäre unbillig, den Kindern das Brod zu nehmen, und es den Hunden vorzuwerfen.

28 Sie antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Wohl, Herr! aber was die Kinder übrig lassen, das fressen ja doch die Hündchen unter dem Tische!

29 Da sprach er zu ihr: Um dieses Wortes willen gehe heim, der Teufel ist von deiner Tochter ausgefahren.

30 Als sie nach Hause kam, fand sie die Tochter vom Teufel befreiet und auf dem Bette liegen.

31 Und er verließ wieder die Grenzen von Tyrus und kam durch Sidon an das galiläische Meer, mitten in das Gebiet der zehn Städte.Und er verließ Tyrus und Sidon wieder und kam.., im Griechischen.

32 Hier brachte man ihm einen Taubstummen, und bat ihn, demselben die Hand aufzulegen.

33 Er nahm ihn aus dem Volke beiseite, legte seine Finger in seine Ohren, berührte mit Speichel seine Zunge,

34 blickte mit stillem Seufzen zum Himmel, und sprach zu ihm: Ephata! das heißt: öffne dich!

35 Sogleich öffneten sich seine Ohren, das Band seiner Zunge war gelöst, und er konnte gehörig sprechen.

36 Er verbot ihnen: es Jemand zu sagen. Aber je mehr er es ihnen verbot, desto mehr breiteten sie es aus,

37 und um so größer war das Erstaunen und man sagte: Er hat doch Alles gut gemachet! den Gehörlosen gibt er das Gehör, und den Sprachlosen die Sprache.

1 And there are gathered together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, who had come from Jerusalem, 2 and had seen that some of his disciples ate their bread with defiled, that is, unwashen, hands. 3 (For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands diligently, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders; 4 and when they come from the marketplace, except they bathe themselves, they eat not; and many other things there are, which they have received to hold, washings of cups, and pots, and brasen vessels.) 5 And the Pharisees and the scribes ask him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat their bread with defiled hands? 6 And he said unto them, Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written,

This people honoreth me with their lips,

But their heart is far from me.

7 But in vain do they worship me,

Teaching as their doctrines the precepts of men.

8 Ye leave the commandment of God, and hold fast the tradition of men. 9 And he said unto them, Full well do ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your tradition. 10 For Moses said, Honor thy father and thy mother; and, He that speaketh evil of father or mother, let him die the death: 11 but ye say, If a man shall say to his father or his mother, That wherewith thou mightest have been profited by me is Corban, that is to say, Given to God; 12 ye no longer suffer him to do aught for his father or his mother; 13 making void the word of God by your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things ye do. 14 And he called to him the multitude again, and said unto them, Hear me all of you, and understand: 15 there is nothing from without the man, that going into him can defile him; but the things which proceed out of the man are those that defile the man. 16 17 And when he was entered into the house from the multitude, his disciples asked of him the parable. 18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Perceive ye not, that whatsoever from without goeth into the man, it cannot defile him; 19 because it goeth not into his heart, but into his belly, and goeth out into the draught? This he said, making all meats clean. 20 And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man. 21 For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, 22 covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness: 23 all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man.

24 And from thence he arose, and went away into the borders of Tyre and Sidon. And he entered into a house, and would have no man know it; and he could not be hid. 25 But straightway a woman, whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, having heard of him, came and fell down at his feet. 26 Now the woman was a Greek, a Syrophoenician by race. And she besought him that he would cast forth the demon out of her daughter. 27 And he said unto her, Let the children first be filled: for it is not meet to take the children’s bread and cast it to the dogs. 28 But she answered and saith unto him, Yea, Lord; even the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs. 29 And he said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the demon is gone out of thy daughter. 30 And she went away unto her house, and found the child laid upon the bed, and the demon gone out.

31 And again he went out from the borders of Tyre, and came through Sidon unto the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis. 32 And they bring unto him one that was deaf, and had an impediment in his speech; and they beseech him to lay his hand upon him. 33 And he took him aside from the multitude privately, and put his fingers into his ears, and he spat, and touched his tongue; 34 and looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha, that is, Be opened. 35 And his ears were opened, and the bond of his tongue was loosed, and he spake plain. 36 And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it. 37 And they were beyond measure astonished, saying, He hath done all things well; he maketh even the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak.
