1 In dem Ort Cäserea war so ein Typ, der in der römischen Armee ein hohes Tier war. Der hieß Kornelius und war der Chef von der so genannten „Italienischen Truppe".

2 Er war total gläubig, seine ganze Familie war das. Er half oft kaputten Leuten finanziell weiter. Und er redete auch viel mit Gott.

3 Dieser Typ hatte am Nachmittag plötzlich ein Treffen mit einem Engel. Der redete mit ihm und sagte: „Hey Kornelius!"

4 Voll panisch sah Kornelius den Engel an und fragte zurück: „Was willst du?" Na, und der antwortete ihm: „Gott hat ein Ohr für dein Anliegen. Er hat mitbekommen, dass du gut drauf bist und Leuten hilfst, das ist nicht an ihm vorbeigegangen!

5 Darum befiehl ein paar von deinen Leuten, mal nach Joppe zu wandern. Wenn sie da sind, sollen sie mal die Lauscher aufmachen und rauskriegen, wo Simon Petrus wohnt.

6 Der hat ein Zimmer in einem Haus am Strand gemietet. Der Typ, dem das gehört, heißt übrigens Simon, der ist von Beruf Schuster. Dieser Petrus soll mal bei dir vorbeikommen!"

7 Sofort nachdem der Engel abgedampft war, holte er sich zwei von seinen Angestellten und einen Soldaten, der auch offen für Gott war und zu seinen Leibwächtern gehörte.

8 Er erzählte ihnen, was für ’ne derbe Sache ihm gerade passiert war, und dann schickte er sie los nach Joppe.

9 Als die drei am nächsten Tag schon kurz vor der Stadtgrenze waren, hatte Petrus in der Zeit plötzlich Bock auf Beten. Er suchte sich einen ruhigen Platz dafür auf dem Flachdach vom Haus.

10 Die Uhr ging gerade auf zwölf, da bekam Petrus tierischen Kohldampf. Als die im Haus schon am Kochen waren, hatte er plötzlich einen Traum von Gott.

11 Petrus sah da drin, wie irgendwas aus dem Himmel runtergelassen wurde. Und zwar lag das auf einem großen weißen Tuch, das an jeder Ecke an eine Schnur geknotet war.

12 In dem Tuch waren viele Sachen, die für die Juden total eklig waren, zum Beispiel Schweine, aber auch Schlangen und so ─ alles Sachen, die man als Jude nicht essen darf.

13 Und dann hörte er eine Stimme aus dem Off, die zu ihm sagte: „Guten Appetit, Petrus, bedien dich!"

14 „Never! Vergiss es, Gott!", sagte Petrus, „ich hab noch nie was gegessen, was für dich dreckig und nicht in Ordnung ist, da mach ich heute auch keine Ausnahme!"

15 Aber die Stimme ließ nicht locker: „Was soll das? Was für Gott okay ist, sollte für dich auch okay sein."

16 Von dem Film gab es drei Wiederholungen. Am Ende wurde das Tuch wieder in den Himmel gezogen.

17 Petrus schnallte null, was Gott ihm damit sagen wollte. Plötzlich klingelte es an der Tür. Die Jungs von Kornelius waren da!

18 „Hier soll so ein Typ wohnen, der Simon Petrus heißt, stimmt das?"

19 Petrus war immer noch am Grübeln darüber, was dieser seltsame Traum nun bedeuten sollte, als schließlich der Geist von Gott zu ihm redete. Er sagte: „Hey Petrus, da stehen gerade drei Typen vor deiner Haustür.

20 Düse mit denen nach Cäsarea. Du brauchst keine Angst zu haben, denn die Jungs kommen direkt von mir."

21 Petrus ging runter zur Tür und begrüßte sie: „Ihr wollt zu mir? Was geht?"

22 „Der Hauptmann Kornelius hat gesagt, wir sollen uns bei dir melden. Der Kornelius ist wirklich gut drauf, er glaubt ganz fest an Gott, das sagen sogar alle Juden die da wohnen. Vor einiger Zeit hatte er ein Treffen mit einem Engel. Der hat gesagt, er soll dich mal einladen und genau das machen, was du ihm sagen wirst."

23 Petrus holte die Männer erst mal rein und gab ihnen ein Zimmer zum Wohnen. Am nächsten Morgen machte er sich aber sofort auf den Weg. Einige Christen aus Joppe kamen mit ihm.

24 Kornelius hatte schon ein Meeting angesetzt, seine Verwandten und Freunde waren alle da und warteten gespannt.

25 Bevor Petrus überhaupt zur Tür reinkam, hatte sich Kornelius bereits demütig auf die Knie begeben.

26 Petrus hatte da nicht so Bock drauf: „Stehen Sie auf, ich bin nicht besser als Sie!", sagte er und streckte ihm die Hand hin.

27 Schließlich gingen sie ins Haus rein. Da hingen sehr viele Leute rum, die auf ihn gewartet hatten.

28 Also legte Petrus gleich los: „Ihr wisst hoffentlich, dass ich total Ärger kriegen würde, wenn das rauskommt, weil es für einen Juden streng verboten ist, sich mit Nichtjuden abzugeben geschweige denn bei ihnen zu wohnen. Aber Gott hat mir klar gemacht, dass ich niemanden diskriminieren darf.

29 Darum bin ich auch sofort losgezogen und zu euch gekommen, als ihr die Anfrage gestartet hattet. Aber was genau wollt ihr denn nun von mir?"

30 Kornelius erzählte dann erst mal seine Geschichte: „Vor vier Tagen hatte ich eine Gebetszeit in meiner Hütte. Ungefähr gegen drei, also genau wie heute um dieselbe Zeit, stand plötzlich ein Typ in meinem Zimmer, der hatte Klamotten an, die leuchteten wie Phosphor.

31 Und dann redete er mit mir und sagte: ‚Kornelius, Gott will das tun, worum du ihn gebeten hast. Er weiß, dass du gut drauf bist.

32 Darum will er von dir, dass du ein paar deiner Jungs nach Joppe schickst, die sollen diesen Petrus suchen und zu dir bringen. Er wohnt in einem Haus am Strand, das dem Schuster Simon gehört. Seinem Befehl sollst du gehorchen.‘

33 Darum hab ich ein paar von meinen Untergebenen sofort losgeschickt. Ich freu mich sehr, dass Sie jetzt da sind! Wir sind jetzt alle da, Gott ist da, und alle warten nur darauf, dass Sie loslegen. Wir wollen hören, was Gott uns zu sagen hat."

34 Petrus legte los: „Ich hab jetzt erst richtig begriffen, dass Gott Bock auf jeden Menschen hat, egal aus welcher Familie er kommt, aus welcher Schicht, Religion oder sonst woher.

35 Er liebt einfach jeden, der sein Leben und sein Vertrauen auf ihn setzt und das tun will, was er möchte.

36 Ihr habt von dem Friedensangebot gehört, das Gott allen Leuten durch Jesus gemacht hat, erst mal den Israelis und jetzt allen Leuten. Und Jesus ist ja der Chef von allem!

37 Ihr habt auch davon gehört, was in Judäa abgegangen ist, als Johannes, der die Leute getauft hat, allen gesagt hat, sie sollten ihr Leben ändern.

38 Jesus, der aus der Stadt Nazareth kommt, war auf Tour. Er ist überall rumgezogen und hat viele geile Sachen gemacht. Er hat viele Dämonen aus Leuten rausgeschmissen und dadurch Leute befreit. Seine Power kam dabei direkt von Gott. Sie war sehr stark in ihm.

39 Wir, die Apostel, sind Augenzeugen davon, wir haben das alles mitbekommen und gesehen, was er in Jerusalem bei den Juden alles gerissen hat. Die haben dann aber Jesus getötet, indem sie ihn an ein Kreuz genagelt haben.

40 Drei Tage später kam dann aber sein fettes Comeback!

41 Er ist wieder lebendig geworden und hing noch eine Weile mit seinen Leuten zusammen. Wir sind Zeugen davon, wir haben sogar mit ihm noch was gegessen und getrunken.

42 Er gab uns dann die Order, dass wir allen Menschen erzählen sollen, dass Gott ihn zum Oberchef erklärt hat und dass jeder, egal ob tot oder lebend, sich eines Tages vor ihm für sein Leben verantworten muss. Er wird wie ein Richter dann ein Urteil fällen.

43 Schon die alten Propheten haben das gewusst und die Vorhersage gemacht, dass alle, die ihr Vertrauen auf Jesus setzen, heil davonkommen werden. Der ganze Mist, den sie gemacht haben, wird ihnen verziehen, wenn sie an ihn glauben."

44 Petrus war noch nicht mal mit seiner Rede ganz fertig, da kam die Kraft von Gott plötzlich auf das ganze Meeting runter. Alle wurden abgefüllt mit dem heiligen Geist!

45 Die Juden aus der Gemeinde, die mit Petrus da waren, kriegten das überhaupt nicht auf die Reihe. Dass Nichtjuden den Geist von Gott bekamen, das war echt abgefahren!

46 Sie hörten, wie die Leute Gott sagten, wie cool er ist und wie sehr sie ihn liebten, und zwar auf die gleiche Art und Weise, wie das mit ihnen Pfingsten auch passiert war. Petrus sagte sofort:

47 „Hey, wer soll jetzt noch was dagegen haben, wenn ihr auch getauft werdet? Ihr habt genau wie wir dieselbe Kraft von Gott, seinen heiligen Geist, bekommen!"

48 Und sofort organisierte er eine riesen Taufsession. Alle, die sich dort in dem Haus von Kornelius getroffen hatten, wurden auf den Namen von Jesus Christus getauft. Anschließend fragten sie Petrus, ob er noch ein paar Tage bei ihnen bleiben könnte.

1 Now there was a certain man in Cæsarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called the Italian band, 2 a devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, who gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God always. 3 He saw in a vision openly, as it were about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in unto him, and saying to him, Cornelius. 4 And he, fastening his eyes upon him, and being affrighted, said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are gone up for a memorial before God. 5 And now send men to Joppa, and fetch one Simon, who is surnamed Peter: 6 he lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side. 7 And when the angel that spake unto him was departed, he called two of his household-servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually; 8 and having rehearsed all things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour: 10 and he became hungry, and desired to eat: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance; 11 and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth: 12 wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven. 13 And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat. 14 But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean. 15 And a voice came unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common. 16 And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven.

17 Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate, 18 and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there. 19 And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. 20 But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them. 21 And Peter went down to the men, and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? 22 And they said, Cornelius a centurion, a righteous man and one that feareth God, and well reported of by all the nation of the Jews, was warned of God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words from thee. 23 So he called them in and lodged them.

And on the morrow he arose and went forth with them, and certain of the brethren from Joppa accompanied him. 24 And on the morrow they entered into Cæsarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and his near friends. 25 And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. 26 But Peter raised him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. 27 And as he talked with him, he went in, and findeth many come together: 28 and he said unto them, Ye yourselves know how it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to join himself or come unto one of another nation; and yet unto me hath God showed that I should not call any man common or unclean: 29 wherefore also I came without gainsaying, when I was sent for. I ask therefore with what intent ye sent for me. 30 And Cornelius said, Four days ago, until this hour, I was keeping the ninth hour of prayer in my house; and behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel, 31 and saith, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. 32 Send therefore to Joppa, and call unto thee Simon, who is surnamed Peter; he lodgeth in the house of Simon a tanner, by the sea side. 33 Forthwith therefore I sent to thee; and thou hast well done that thou art come. Now therefore we are all here present in the sight of God, to hear all things that have been commanded thee of the Lord. 34 And Peter opened his mouth, and said,

Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him. 36 The word which he sent unto the children of Israel, preaching good tidings of peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all)— 37 that saying ye yourselves know, which was published throughout all Judæa, beginning from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 38 even Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 39 And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom also they slew, hanging him on a tree. 40 Him God raised up the third day, and gave him to be made manifest, 41 not to all the people, but unto witnesses that were chosen before of God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead. 42 And he charged us to preach unto the people, and to testify that this is he who is ordained of God to be the Judge of the living and the dead. 43 To him bear all the prophets witness, that through his name every one that believeth on him shall receive remission of sins.

44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them that heard the word. 45 And they of the circumcision that believed were amazed, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter, 47 Can any man forbid the water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we? 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
