1 Absender: Paulus in seiner Funktion als Apostel. Jesus Christus hat ihn für diesen Job ausgesucht. An: alle in Ephesus, die ihr Vertrauen auf Jesus Christus gesetzt haben.

2 Hallo Leute! Ich wünsch euch, dass ihr die Liebe bei euch habt, mit der euch Gott angenommen hat, und den Frieden, der von Gott kommt, unserem Vater, und von Jesus Christus, dem Chef.

3 Danke, Gott, danke, Vater von Jesus Christus, du bist der Beste! Leute, Gott hat uns durch Jesus alle möglichen geistlichen Gaben geschenkt.

4 Schon bevor die Welt entstanden ist, hat Gott uns extra ausgesucht. Er wollte, dass wir ihm ganz nahe sind, dass wir etwas Besonderes sind, dass wir heilig und sauber bei ihm sein können!

5 Es war sein Plan, dass wir durch Jesus seine Kinder werden können. Das wollte er so, weil er uns so sehr liebt.

6 Darum freuen wir uns so sehr. Wir danken ihm für seine Liebe, mit der er uns durch seinen Sohn Jesus freigesprochen hat.

7 Seine Liebe zu uns ist so riesengroß, dass er bereit war, unsere Freiheit mit dem Tod seines Sohnes zu bezahlen, damit wir unseren Dreck los sind.

8 Seiner Liebe verdanken wir auch, dass wir überhaupt erst erfahren haben, wie wir gerettet werden können, und dass wir verstanden haben, was da geht.

9 Sein Plan war von Anfang an, Jesus zu uns zu schicken, und alle, die ihr Vertrauen auf ihn setzen, haben das jetzt begriffen.

10 Gott hatte beschlossen, wenn die Zeit reif dafür ist, alles Jesus zu geben, was auf der Erde und im Weltall existiert, damit er darüber das Sagen hat.

11 Gott hatte schon immer geplant, dass wir jetzt unsere Erbschaft von ihm bekommen sollen. Er hat sich die Leute ausgesucht, die diese Erbschaft antreten sollen.

12 Wir sollen durch das, was wir tun und wie wir drauf sind, Gott am Ende groß rauskommen lassen. Schließlich haben wir ja schon lange auf den Auserwählten gewartet.

13 Das gilt jetzt auch für euch, die ihr diese Wahrheit gehört habt, dass Gott euch aus dem Dreck rausholt. Weil ihr das geglaubt habt, verspricht uns Gott, dass wir jetzt zu ihm gehören, und darum habt ihr auch seine Kraft bekommen, die wie ein Versprechen von ihm ist.

14 Der heilige Geist, seine besondere Kraft, ist die Garantie, dass wir auch alles bekommen werden, was er uns versprochen hat. Er beweist auch, dass wir jetzt radikal zu ihm gehören, damit er am Ende die Ehre bekommt.

15 Seitdem ich von eurem radikalen Vertrauen gehört habe und davon, wie sehr ihr alle andern Christen liebt,

16 bin ich ständig dabei, mich bei Gott dafür zu bedanken! Ich bete auch ganz oft für euch!

17 Ich sag dann Gott, er soll euch helfen den Überblick zu behalten, damit ihr ihn immer besser kennen lernt und er euch zeigt, was er von euch will.

18 Er soll eure inneren Augen öffnen, damit ihr kapiert, auf was wir uns freuen können. Er hat uns ausgesucht, er hat uns fette Sachen versprochen, die er uns vererben will, nur weil wir ihm vertrauen.

19 Ihr sollt begreifen, wie irre groß seine Möglichkeiten sind, Möglichkeiten, die alle in uns stecken, weil wir ihm vertrauen. Da ist doch immerhin dieselbe Kraft in uns,

20 mit der Jesus den Tod besiegt hat, dieselbe Kraft, die ihm den Platz auf der Ehrentribüne gleich neben Gott sichern konnte.

21 Jetzt ist er von Gott zum Chef über die ganze Welt gemacht worden. Er hat die Macht über jede Regierung, über alles, was Macht ausübt, in dieser Welt und in der, die noch kommen wird.

22 Gott hat Jesus zum Bestimmer über alles gemacht. Er ist der Chef über die ganze Gemeinde geworden.

23 Und diese Gemeinde ist sein Körper, der von ihm, dem Auserwählten, total abgefüllt ist. Und nicht nur das, Jesus füllt sogar das ganze Universum aus.

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ: 4 even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love: 5 having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 to the praise of the glory of his grace, which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved: 7 in whom we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, 8 which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, 9 making known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he purposed in him 10 unto a dispensation of the fulness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens, and the things upon the earth; in him, I say, 11 in whom also we were made a heritage, having been foreordained according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his will; 12 to the end that we should be unto the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ: 13 in whom ye also, having heard the word of the truth, the gospel of your salvation,—in whom, having also believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 which is an earnest of our inheritance, unto the redemption of God’s own possession, unto the praise of his glory.

15 For this cause I also, having heard of the faith in the Lord Jesus which is among you, and the love which ye show toward all the saints, 16 cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; 18 having the eyes of your heart enlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, 19 and what the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to that working of the strength of his might 20 which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and made him to sit at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule, and authority, and power, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 and he put all things in subjection under his feet, and gave him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
