10 Als die Schüler (die man ab jetzt auch Apostel nannte) von ihrer Tour wieder zurück waren, erstatteten sie bei Jesus Bericht. Sie erzählten, was sie alles erlebt hatten und was in der Zeit so passiert war. Jesus nahm sie mit in die Stadt Betsaida. Er wollte mit ihnen etwas alleine sein.

11 Die Leute kriegten das aber schnell spitz und folgten ihnen. Also machte Jesus wieder ein Spontantreffen da draus und predigte über die neue Zeit, die jetzt begonnen hatte, und heilte alle Leute, die krank waren.

12 Gegen 18.00 Uhr gingen seine Schüler in einer Pause nach vorne, um sich mit ihm zu besprechen. „Schick die Leute nach Hause, Jesus", sagten sie, „die müssen alle auch mal was essen und sich noch einen Pennplatz für die Nacht organisieren. Hier auf dem Dorf hat jetzt schon alles zu."

13 Jesus’ Antwort war: „Hey Jungs, gebt ihr ihnen doch was zu essen!" „Was? Wir haben gerade mal fünf Toastbrote und zwei Frikadellen am Start!"

14 Es waren ungefähr 5.000 Männer (plus Frauen und Kinder) da. „Sie sollen sich mal gruppenweise zusammentun, zu jeweils 50 Leuten", gab Jesus die Anweisung.

15 Gesagt, getan.

16 Dann nahm er die fünf Toastbrote und die Frikadellen, die ihm die Schüler in die Hand gedrückt hatten. Er blickte kurz Richtung Himmel, dankte seinem Vater für das Essen, und dann gab er die Teile Stück für Stück an die Leute weiter.

17 Nach dem Essen war jeder pappsatt! Und es blieben sogar noch zwölf Einkaufswagen mit Nahrung übrig!

10 And the apostles, when they were returned, declared unto him what things they had done. And he took them, and withdrew apart to a city called Bethsaida. 11 But the multitudes perceiving it followed him: and he welcomed them, and spake to them of the kingdom of God, and them that had need of healing he cured. 12 And the day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages and country round about, and lodge, and get provisions: for we are here in a desert place. 13 But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more than five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy food for all this people. 14 For they were about five thousand men. And he said unto his disciples, Make them sit down in companies, about fifty each. 15 And they did so, and made them all sit down. 16 And he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake; and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude. 17 And they ate, and were all filled: and there was taken up that which remained over to them of broken pieces, twelve baskets.
