1 If it had not been Yahweh who was on our side,

let Israel now say,

2 if it had not been Yahweh who was on our side,

when men rose up against us,

3 then they would have swallowed us up alive,

when their wrath was kindled against us,

4 then the waters would have overwhelmed us,

the stream would have gone over our soul.

5 Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.

6 Blessed be Yahweh,

who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare.

The snare is broken, and we have escaped.

8 Our help is in Yahweh’s name,

who made heaven and earth.

1 (O cîntare a treptelor. Un psalm al lui David.) De n'ar fi fost Domnul de partea noastră, -să spună Israel acum! -

2 de n'ar fi fost Domnul de partea noastră, cînd s'au ridicat oamenii împotriva noastră,

3 ne-ar fi înghiţit de vii, cînd li s'a aprins mînia împotriva noastră;

4 ne-ar fi înecat apele, ar fi trecut rîurile peste sufletul nostru;

5 ar fi trecut peste sufletul nostru valurile năpraznice.

6 Binecuvîntat să fie Domnul, care nu ne -a dat pradă dinţilor lor!

7 Sufletul ne -a scăpat ca pasărea din laţul păsărarului; laţul s'a rupt, şi noi am scăpat.

8 Ajutorul nostru este în Numele Domnului, care a făcut cerurile şi pămîntul.
