1 Now Pashhur, the son of Immer the priest, who was chief officer in Yahweh’s house, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things. 2 Then Pashhur struck Jeremiah the prophet and put him in the stocks that were in the upper gate of Benjamin, which was in Yahweh’s house. 3 On the next day, Pashhur released Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then Jeremiah said to him, "Yahweh has not called your name Pashhur, but Magormissabib. 4 For Yahweh says, ‘Behold, I will make you a terror to yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies, and your eyes will see it. I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will carry them captive to Babylon, and will kill them with the sword. 5 Moreover I will give all the riches of this city, and all its gains, and all its precious things, yes, I will give all the treasures of the kings of Judah into the hand of their enemies. They will make them captives, take them, and carry them to Babylon. 6 You, Pashhur, and all who dwell in your house will go into captivity. You will come to Babylon, and there you will die, and there you will be buried, you, and all your friends, to whom you have prophesied falsely.’"
7 Yahweh, you have persuaded me, and I was persuaded.
You are stronger than I, and have prevailed.
I have become a laughingstock all day.
Everyone mocks me.
8 For as often as I speak, I cry out;
I cry, "Violence and destruction!"
because Yahweh’s word has been made a reproach to me,
and a derision, all day.
9 If I say that I will not make mention of him,
or speak any more in his name,
then there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones.
I am weary with holding it in.
I can’t.
10 For I have heard the defaming of many:
"Terror on every side!
Denounce, and we will denounce him!"
say all my familiar friends,
those who watch for my fall.
"Perhaps he will be persuaded,
and we will prevail against him,
and we will take our revenge on him."
11 But Yahweh is with me as an awesome mighty one.
Therefore my persecutors will stumble,
and they won’t prevail.
They will be utterly disappointed
because they have not dealt wisely,
even with an everlasting dishonor which will never be forgotten.
12 But Yahweh of Armies, who tests the righteous,
who sees the heart and the mind,
let me see your vengeance on them,
for I have revealed my cause to you.
13 Sing to Yahweh!
Praise Yahweh,
for he has delivered the soul of the needy from the hand of evildoers.
14 Cursed is the day in which I was born.
Don’t let the day in which my mother bore me be blessed.
15 Cursed is the man who brought news to my father, saying,
"A boy is born to you," making him very glad.
16 Let that man be as the cities which Yahweh overthrew,
and didn’t repent.
Let him hear a cry in the morning,
and shouting at noontime,
17 because he didn’t kill me from the womb.
So my mother would have been my grave,
and her womb always great.
18 Why did I come out of the womb to see labor and sorrow,
that my days should be consumed with shame?
1 音麦的儿子巴施户珥祭司， 就是耶和华殿的总管， 他听见了耶利米预言这些事，
2 就殴打耶利米先知， 把他枷锁在耶和华殿里， 朝向便雅悯的上门内。
3 次日， 巴施户珥把耶利米从枷锁上解下来， 耶利米就对他说： "耶和华不再称你的名为巴施户珥， 却要称你为玛歌珥．米撒毕（"玛歌珥．米撒毕"意即"四围惊慌"）。
4 因为耶和华这样说： ‘看哪！ 我要使你自己和你所有的朋友都惊惶失措； 他们必倒在他们仇敌的刀下， 你也必亲眼看见。我要把全犹大交在巴比伦王手中； 他要把他们掳到巴比伦去， 或用刀击杀他们。
5 我要把这城的一切财物、一切劳碌得来的、一切珍宝和犹大列王的一切宝物， 都交在他们仇敌的手中； 仇敌要把这一切抢劫掠夺， 带回巴比伦去。
6 巴施户珥啊！ 你和所有住在你家里的人， 都要被掳去； 你和你所有的朋友， 就是你向他们说假预言的， 都要到巴比伦去， 死在那里， 也葬在那里。’"
7 耶和华啊！ 你愚弄了我， 我受了愚弄； 你比我强大， 你胜了我。我整天成了别人讥笑的对象， 人人都嘲弄我。
8 因为我每次发言， 都大声呼叫； 我呼喊， 说： "有强暴和毁灭！ "耶和华的话使我整天受人辱骂和讥讽。
9 如果我说： "我不再提起他， 也不再奉他的名说话"， 他的话就像火在我心中焚烧， 被困在我的骨里； 我不能再抑制， 实在不能了。
10 我听见许多人耳语： "玛歌珥．米撒毕！ 告发他， 我们要告发他！ "我所有的知己朋友都等着看我行差踏错， 他们说： "希望他会上当， 我们就可以胜过他， 向他报复。"
11 但耶和华与我同在， 像一个威武可畏的勇士， 因此， 逼迫我的都必跌倒， 不能得胜。他们必大大蒙羞， 因为他们失败了； 这永远的耻辱是人不能忘记的。
12 万军之耶和华啊！ 你试验义人， 察看人的心肠肺腑； 求你让我看见你在他们身上施行的报复， 因为我已经把我的案件向你陈明了。
13 你们要歌颂耶和华， 赞美耶和华； 因为他救了穷乏人的性命， 脱离恶人的手。
14 愿我生的那一天受咒诅！ 愿我母亲生我的那一天不蒙祝福！
15 那向我父亲报喜信： "你得了一个男孩"， 叫我父亲十分高兴的， 愿那人受咒诅！
16 愿那人像耶和华所倾覆而不顾惜的城市， 愿他早晨听见哀号， 午间听见战争的吶喊。
17 因为他没有使我死于母腹， 好使我的母亲成了我的坟墓， 我永远留在母腹中。
18 我为什么要出母胎， 经历劳苦和忧伤， 并且我的年日都消逝在羞辱之中呢？
