1 Listen now to what Yahweh says:

"Arise, plead your case before the mountains,

and let the hills hear what you have to say.

2 Hear, you mountains, Yahweh’s indictment,

and you enduring foundations of the earth;

for Yahweh has a case against his people,

and he will contend with Israel.

3 My people, what have I done to you?

How have I burdened you?

Answer me!

4 For I brought you up out of the land of Egypt,

and redeemed you out of the house of bondage.

I sent before you Moses, Aaron, and Miriam.

5 My people, remember now what Balak king of Moab devised,

and what Balaam the son of Beor answered him from Shittim to Gilgal,

that you may know the righteous acts of Yahweh."

6 How shall I come before Yahweh,

and bow myself before the exalted God?

Shall I come before him with burnt offerings,

with calves a year old?

7 Will Yahweh be pleased with thousands of rams?

With tens of thousands of rivers of oil?

Shall I give my firstborn for my disobedience?

The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?

8 He has shown you, O man, what is good.

What does Yahweh require of you, but to act justly,

to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

9 Yahweh’s voice calls to the city—

and wisdom fears your name—

"Listen to the rod,

and he who appointed it.

10 Are there yet treasures of wickedness in the house of the wicked,

and a short ephah that is accursed?

11 Shall I tolerate dishonest scales,

and a bag of deceitful weights?

12 Her rich men are full of violence,

her inhabitants speak lies,

and their tongue is deceitful in their speech.

13 Therefore I also have struck you with a grievous wound.

I have made you desolate because of your sins.

14 You shall eat, but not be satisfied.

Your hunger will be within you.

You will store up, but not save,

and that which you save I will give up to the sword.

15 You will sow, but won’t reap.

You will tread the olives, but won’t anoint yourself with oil;

and crush grapes, but won’t drink the wine.

16 For the statutes of Omri are kept,

and all the works of Ahab’s house.

You walk in their counsels,

that I may make you a ruin,

and your inhabitants a hissing.

You will bear the reproach of my people."

1 你们当听耶和华所说的话： "你要起来， 向大山争辩， 让小山可以听见你的声音。

2 大山啊！ 你们要听耶和华的争辩。大地永久的根基啊！ 你们要听， 因为耶和华与他的子民争辩， 和以色列争论。

3 我的子民啊， 我向你作了什么呢？我在什么事上叫你厌烦呢？你可以回答我。

4 我曾经把你从埃及地领上来， 把你从为奴之家赎出来； 我也差派了摩西、亚伦和米利暗在你前面行。

5 我的民哪！ 你们要追念， 摩押王巴勒图谋过什么， 比珥的儿子巴兰又答应了他什么， 以及你们从什亭到吉甲所发生的事， 好使你们知道耶和华公义的作为。"

6 我朝见耶和华， 在至高的 神面前叩拜， 当献上什么呢？我朝见他的时候， 当献上燔祭， 当献上一岁的牛犊吗？

7 耶和华喜悦千千的公羊， 或是万万的油河吗？为我的过犯， 我可以献上我的长子吗？为我的罪恶， 献上我亲生的孩子吗？

8 世人哪！ 耶和华已经指示你什么是善， 他向你所要的又是什么； 无非是要你行公义， 好怜悯， 谦虚谨慎与你的 神同行。

9 听啊！ 耶和华向这城呼叫， 敬畏你的名就是智慧； 支派和城里的会众啊！ 你们要听。

10 我怎能忘记恶人家中的不义之财， 和那些可咒诅的小升斗呢？

11 用不义的天平， 和袋中诈骗的法码的人， 我怎能算他为清洁呢？

12 城里的财主充满了强暴， 其中的居民也说假话； 他们口中的舌头是诡诈的。

13 因此我击打你， 使你生病， 因你的罪恶， 使你荒凉。

14 你要吃， 却吃不饱； 因你的腹中常有疾病。你要怀孕， 却不能生下来； 你生下来的， 我都要交给刀剑。

15 你要撒种， 却不得收割， 你要榨橄榄油， 却不得油抹身； 你要榨葡萄汁， 却不得酒喝。

16 你跟随了暗利的规例和亚哈家一切所行的， 顺从了他们的计谋； 因此， 我必使你荒凉， 使你（"你"原文作"她"）的居民被嗤笑； 你们也必担当我民的羞辱。
