1 The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Lord Yahweh says about Edom. We have heard news from Yahweh, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, "Arise, and let’s rise up against her in battle. 2 Behold, I have made you small among the nations. You are greatly despised. 3 The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’ 4 Though you mount on high as the eagle, and though your nest is set among the stars, I will bring you down from there," says Yahweh. 5 "If thieves came to you, if robbers by night—oh, what disaster awaits you—wouldn’t they only steal until they had enough? If grape pickers came to you, wouldn’t they leave some gleaning grapes? 6 How Esau will be ransacked! How his hidden treasures are sought out! 7 All the men of your alliance have brought you on your way, even to the border. The men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you. Friends who eat your bread lay a snare under you. There is no understanding in him."

8 "Won’t I in that day", says Yahweh, "destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau? 9 Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter. 10 For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be cut off forever. 11 In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance and foreigners entered into his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them. 12 But don’t look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and don’t rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Don’t speak proudly in the day of distress. 13 Don’t enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Don’t look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity. 14 Don’t stand in the crossroads to cut off those of his who escape. Don’t deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress. 15 For the day of Yahweh is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head. 16 For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so all the nations will drink continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they had not been. 17 But in Mount Zion, there will be those who escape, and it will be holy. The house of Jacob will possess their possessions. 18 The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau." Indeed, Yahweh has spoken.

19 Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead. 20 The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev. 21 Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be Yahweh’s.

2 看哪！ 我必使你在列国中成为弱小的， 你必大受藐视。

3 你心中的傲气欺骗了你； 你这住在岩石的隐密处， 居所在高处的啊！ 你心里说： "谁能把我拉下地呢？"

4 你虽如鹰高飞， 在星宿之间搭窝， 我也必从那里把你拉下来。这是耶和华的宣告。

5 窃贼若来到你那里， 强盗若夜间来到， 岂不会偷窃直到够了呢？你将会怎样被灭绝！ 摘葡萄的若来到你那里， 岂不只剩下几粒葡萄吗？

6 以扫要怎样被搜索， 他收藏的宝物被搜查出来。

7 曾与你结盟的， 都把你送到边界； 本来与你友好的， 却欺骗你， 胜过你； 与你同席的， 在你脚下暗设网罗， 你却毫不晓得。

8 耶和华宣告说： 到那日， 我岂不从以东灭绝智慧人吗？岂不从以扫山除掉聪明人吗？

9 提幔哪！ 你的勇士要惊惶， 因此在以扫山上人人被杀戮剪除。

10 因你对兄弟雅各行强暴， 你必受羞辱， 永被剪除。

11 外地人劫掠雅各财物的日子， 外族人进入他的城门， 为耶路撒冷抽签； 那时你竟袖手旁观， 甚至好像他们中间的一分子！

12 你兄弟遭遇祸患的日子， 你不该看着不理； 犹大人被灭的日子， 你不该幸灾乐祸； 他们遭难的日子， 你不该张口狂傲；

13 我子民遭灾的日子， 你不该进入他们的城门； 他们遭灾的日子， 你不该看着他们受苦； 他们遭灾的日子， 你不该抢夺他们的财物。

14 你不该站在岔路口， 剪除他们中间逃脱的人； 他们遭难的日子， 你不该把他们生还的人交出来。

15 耶和华的日子临近万国了， 人必照你所行的向你施行， 你的报应必归到你的头上。

16 你们怎样在我的圣山上喝过苦杯， 万国也必照样不住地喝， 他们要喝， 并且要吞下去， 他们就不再存在了。

17 但在锡安山上必有逃脱的人， 那山必成为圣； 雅各家必得回他们原有的产业。

18 雅各家必成为火， 约瑟家必成为火焰； 以扫家却像碎秸， 被它们焚烧吞灭， 以扫家再没有生还的人了。因为耶和华已经说了。

19 南地的人必占有以扫山， 低地的人必占有非利士人之地； 他们必占有以法莲的田野和撒玛利亚的田野； 便雅悯人必占有基列。

20 被掳到哈腊的以色列人， 必占有迦南人的地， 直到撒勒法； 被掳到西法拉的耶路撒冷的人， 要占有南地众城。

21 必有拯救者登锡安山， 审判以扫山， 国权就属于耶和华了。
