1 Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler.
Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.
2 The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion.
He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.
3 It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling.
4 The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter;
therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.
5 Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water,
but a man of understanding will draw it out.
6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love,
but who can find a faithful man?
7 A righteous man walks in integrity.
Blessed are his children after him.
8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment
scatters away all evil with his eyes.
9 Who can say, "I have made my heart pure.
I am clean and without sin?"
10 Differing weights and differing measures,
both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.
11 Even a child makes himself known by his doings,
whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.
12 The hearing ear, and the seeing eye,
Yahweh has made even both of them.
13 Don’t love sleep, lest you come to poverty.
Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.
14 "It’s no good, it’s no good," says the buyer;
but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.
15 There is gold and abundance of rubies,
but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.
16 Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger;
and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.
17 Fraudulent food is sweet to a man,
but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.
18 Plans are established by advice;
by wise guidance you wage war!
19 He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets;
therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips.
20 Whoever curses his father or his mother,
his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.
21 An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning
won’t be blessed in the end.
22 Don’t say, "I will pay back evil."
Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you.
23 Yahweh detests differing weights,
and dishonest scales are not pleasing.
24 A man’s steps are from Yahweh;
how then can man understand his way?
25 It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication,
then later to consider his vows.
26 A wise king winnows out the wicked,
and drives the threshing wheel over them.
27 The spirit of man is Yahweh’s lamp,
searching all his innermost parts.
28 Love and faithfulness keep the king safe.
His throne is sustained by love.
29 The glory of young men is their strength.
The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
30 Wounding blows cleanse away evil,
and beatings purge the innermost parts.
1 酒能使人狂放, 烈酒能使人喧哗; 所有因醉酒而犯错的, 都没有智慧。
2 王的震怒好像狮子的吼叫; 触怒他的是自害己命。
3 平息纷争就是人的荣耀; 只有愚妄人个个都爱争执。
4 懒惰人冬天不耕种; 到收割的时候, 出去求食, 必一无所得。
5 人心里的谋略如同深水, 唯有聪明人能汲引出来。
6 很多人自称忠诚, 但信实的人, 谁能遇着呢?
7 行为完全的义人, 他的后代是有福的。
8 君王坐在审判的位上, 他的眼目查察一切恶事。
9 谁能说: "我洁净了我的心, 我是清洁无罪的"?
10 不同的法码, 不同的量器, 两样都是耶和华所厌恶的。
11 孩童的行动是否清洁正直, 凭他的行为就可以把他自己显明出来。
12 能听的耳朵和能看的眼睛, 两样都是耶和华所造的。
13 不要贪睡, 免得你贫穷; 睁开眼睛, 你才有饱餐。
14 买东西的说: "不好, 不好! "离去以后, 他就自夸。
15 虽有金子、许多红宝石和宝器, 但充满知识的嘴唇比这一切更宝贵。
16 谁为陌生人作保证人, 就拿去谁的衣服; 谁替妓女作保证人, 谁就要作担保。
17 欺骗得来的食物, 人总觉得甘甜; 事后他的口必充满沙石。
18 计划要有筹算才能确立; 作战也要倚靠智谋。
19 到处搬弄是非的, 泄露秘密; 好说闲言的, 不可与他结交。
20 咒骂父母的, 他的灯必在漆黑的幽暗中熄灭。
21 起初迅速得来的产业, 最后却不是福气。
22 你不要说: "我要以恶报恶"; 要等候耶和华, 他必拯救你。
23 不同的法码是耶和华所厌恶的; 诡诈的天平, 也是邪恶的。
24 人的脚步是由耶和华所定, 人怎能明白自己的道路呢?
25 如果有人轻率地说: "这是归 神为圣之物", 许愿以后才重新考虑, 就是自陷网罗。
26 智慧的王簸散恶人, 并用车轮碾他们。
27 人的灵是耶和华的灯, 探照人的脏腑。
28 慈爱和信实保护君王, 他的王位也借慈爱维持。
29 气力是年轻人的荣耀, 白发是老年人的尊荣。
30 鞭伤能除净人的邪恶, 责打能洗净人的脏腑。
