17 Iron sharpens iron;
so a man sharpens his friend’s countenance.
63 I am a friend of all those who fear you,
of those who observe your precepts.
33 Don’t be deceived! "Evil companionships corrupt good morals."
5 Better is open rebuke
than hidden love.
6 The wounds of a friend are faithful,
although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.
10 Don’t forsake your friend and your father’s friend.
Don’t go to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster.
A neighbour who is near is better than a distant brother.
9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labour. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up.
20 One who walks with wise men grows wise,
but a companion of fools suffers harm.
17 A friend loves at all times;
and a brother is born for adversity.
3 Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.
13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.
9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart;
so does earnest counsel from a man’s friend.
11 Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us.
24 Don’t befriend a hot-tempered man.
Don’t associate with one who harbours anger,
25 lest you learn his ways
and ensnare your soul.
1 See how good and how pleasant it is
for brothers to live together in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil on the head,
that ran down on the beard,
even Aaron’s beard,
that came down on the edge of his robes,
3 like the dew of Hermon,
that comes down on the hills of Zion;
for there the LORD gives the blessing,
even life forever more.
16 By this we know love, because he laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. 17 But whoever has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, then closes his heart of compassion against him, how does God’s love remain in him?
18 My little children, let’s not love in word only, or with the tongue only, but in deed and truth.
6 Many men claim to be men of unfailing love,
but who can find a faithful man?
24 A man of many companions may be ruined,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
4 Wealth adds many friends,
but the poor is separated from his friend.
12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another, even as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
10 In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honour prefer one another,
23 So the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him as righteousness," and he was called the friend of God.
