20 "He arose, and came to his father. But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
22 "But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe, and put it on him. Put a ring on his hand, and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let’s eat, and celebrate;
3 Behold, children are a heritage of the LORD.
The fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man,
so are the children of youth.
5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them.
They won’t be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
24 One who spares the rod hates his son,
but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
13 Watch! Stand firm in the faith! Be courageous! Be strong!
15 If it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose today whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."
24 The father of the righteous has great joy.
Whoever fathers a wise child delights in him.
26 In the fear of the LORD is a secure fortress,
and he will be a refuge for his children.
7 A righteous man walks in integrity.
Blessed are his children after him.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
