29 For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life on account of Me will find it.
3 And if I were to bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and if I were to give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.
5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our comfort also abounds through Christ.
21 For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:
2 Bear one anothers burdens, and so fulfill the Law of Christ.
14 But even if you should suffer because of righteousness, you are blessed. And do not be afraid of their terror, nor be troubled.
3 And not only that, but we also exult in afflictions, knowing that affliction produces perseverance;
4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope.
23 And being in torments in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 Then he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but Jehovah delivers him out of them all.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall affliction, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
3 And He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you had not known nor had your fathers known, to make you know that man does not live by bread alone; but man lives by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of Jehovah.
17 Behold, blessed is the man whom God corrects; therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty.
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is achieving for us a surpassing and eternal weight of glory,
1 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has been released from sin,
22 Therefore, having obtained help from God, to this day I stand, witnessing both to small and great, saying no other things than those which the prophets and Moses said would come to be;
23 that the Christ would suffer, that He would be the first to rise from the dead, and would proclaim light to the Jewish people and to the Gentiles.
4 Truly He has borne our sicknesses, and carried our pain; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
3 He is despised and rejected by men; a Man of pain, and knowing infirmity; a hiding of faces; being despised, we have esteemed Him not.
20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell down upon the ground and prostrated himself;
21 and he said: Naked I have come from my mothers womb, and naked shall I return there. Jehovah has given, and Jehovah has taken away; blessed is the name of Jehovah.
10 But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassions and God of all comfort,
4 who encourages us in all our affliction, that we may be able to encourage those who are in any affliction, through the comfort by which we ourselves are encouraged by God.
28 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him.
29 And when they had woven a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed unto us.
38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
