A bondade de Deus em proteger os viajantes, os encarcerados, os doentes, os que navegam e, em geral, todos os homens

1 *Sl 106.1Dai graças a Jeová, porque ele é bom;

porque a sua benignidade dura para sempre.

2 Digam-no os *Is 35.9-10;62.12;63.4remidos de Jeová,

os quais ele *Sl 78.42;106.10remiu da mão do adversário

3 *Sl 106.47;Dt 30.3;Ne 1.9;Is 11.12;43.5;56.8;Ez 11.17;20.34e os congregou dentre as terras,

do Oriente e do Ocidente,

do Norte e do Sul.

4 *Nm 14.33;32.13;Dt 2.7;Js 5.6;14.10Andaram no deserto errantes por caminho ermo;

não acharam *Sl 107.7,36cidade alguma em que morassem.

5 Andavam famintos e sedentos;

neles, desfalecia *Sl 77.3a sua alma.

6 Na sua tribulação, *Sl 107.13,19,28;50.15clamaram a Jeová,

e ele os livrou das suas angústias.

7 Conduziu-os também *Sl 5.8;Ed 8.21;Jr 31.9por caminho direito,

para que fossem ter a uma *Sl 107.4,36cidade em que morassem.

8 *Sl 107.15,21,31Deem graças a Jeová pela sua benignidade

e pelas suas maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!

9 Porque ele *Sl 22.26;63.5;103.5sacia a alma sequiosa

e *Sl 146.7;Mt 5.6;Lc 1.53enche de bens a alma faminta.

10 Aqueles que *Sl 143.3;Is 42.7;Mq 7.8;Lc 1.79se assentaram nas trevas e na sombra da morte,

*Sl 102.20;Jó 36.8presos em aflição e em ferros,

11 por se *Sl 78.40;106.7rebelarem contra as palavras de Deus

e *Nm 15.31;2Cr 36.16;Pv 1.25;Is 5.24desprezarem o conselho do Altíssimo,

12 de modo que lhes abateu com trabalho o coração;

caíram, e não houve *Sl 22.11;72.12quem os socorresse.

13 Então, *Sl 107.6clamaram a Jeová, na sua tribulação,

e ele os livrou das suas angústias.

14 *Sl 86.13;107.10Tirou-os das trevas e da sombra da morte

e *Sl 116.16;Jr 2.20;30.8;Na 1.13;Lc 13.16;At 12.7despedaçou-lhes as cadeias.

15 Deem graças a Jeová pela sua benignidade

e pelas suas maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!

16 Porque *Is 45.1-2arrombou as portas de bronze

e cortou as trancas de ferro.

17 Os estultos, por causa da sua transgressão

e *Is 65.6-7;Jr 30.14-15;Ez 24.23por causa das suas iniquidades, são aflitos.

18 A sua *Sl 102.4;Jó 33.20alma aborrece toda sorte de comida,

e eles *Sl 88.3;Jó 33.22se aproximam *Sl 9.13;Jó 38.17das portas da morte.

19 Na sua tribulação, clamam a Jeová,

e ele os livra das suas angústias.

20 *Sl 147.15,18;Mt 8.8Envia a sua palavra, e os *Sl 30.2;103.3;147.3;2Rs 20.5sara,

*Sl 30.3;49.15;56.13;103.4;Jó 33.28,30e livra-os dos seus perigos.

21 Deem graças a Jeová pela sua benignidade

e pelas suas maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!

22 Ofereçam *Sl 50.14;116.17;Lv 7.12sacrifícios de ação de graças

e *Sl 9.11;73.28;118.17celebrem as suas obras com canto de júbilo.

23 Aqueles que *Is 42.10;Jn 1.3descem ao mar, embarcando em navios,

aqueles que fazem tráfico nas grandes águas,

24 estes veem as obras de Jeová

e as suas maravilhas no profundo.

25 Pois ele *Sl 105.31,34manda e faz levantar *Sl 148.8;Jn 1.4o vento tempestuoso,

que *Sl 93.3-4eleva as ondas do mar.

26 Eles montam ao céu, descem ao abismo;

*Sl 22.14;119.28esvaece-lhes a alma de aflição.

27 Balouçam, e *Jó 12.25;Is 24.20cambaleiam como um bêbado,

e perdem todo o tino.

28 Na sua tribulação, clamam a Jeová,

e ele os tira das suas angústias.

29 *Sl 65.7;89.9;Mt 8.26;Lc 8.24Torna a tempestade em bonança,

de maneira que acalmam as ondas.

30 Então, eles se alegram, porque as ondas se aquietaram;

assim, ele os conduz ao porto que desejam.

31 Deem graças a Jeová pela sua benignidade

e pelas suas *Sl 78.4;111.4maravilhas para com os filhos dos homens!

32 *Sl 34.3;99.5;Is 25.1Exaltem-no também *Sl 22.22,25na assembleia do povo

*Sl 35.18e louvem-no no concílio dos anciãos!

33 Ele *Sl 74.15;Is 42.15;50.2converte rios em deserto

e mananciais de água, em terra sedenta;

34 *Gn 13.10;14.3;19.24-25;Dt 29.23terra fértil, em *Jó 39.6;Jr 17.6deserto salgado,

por causa da maldade dos que nela habitam.

35 *Sl 105.41;114.8;Is 35.6-7;41.18Converte o deserto em lago de água

e a terra seca, em mananciais de água.

36 Ali, faz habitar os famintos,

os quais edificam uma *Sl 107.4,7cidade em que habitem.

37 Eles semeiam campos e *2Rs 19.29;Is 65.21;Am 9.14plantam vinhas

que produzam frutos abundantes.

38 Também os abençoa, de sorte que se *Gn 12.2;17.20;Êx 1.7;Dt 1.10multiplicam sobremaneira;

e não *Dt 7.14permite que o seu gado diminua.

39 São, depois, *Ez 5.11;29.15reduzidos a poucos e *Sl 38.6;44.25;57.6abatidos

Pela opressão, pela adversidade e pela tristeza.

40 Ele *Jó 12.21lança o desprezo sobre príncipes

*Jó 12.24e os faz vagar *Dt 32.10no ermo, onde não há caminho.

41 Todavia, *Sl 59.1;113.7-8;1Sm 2.8põe o necessitado num alto retiro, fora do alcance da aflição,

*Sl 113.9;Jó 21.11e dá-lhe famílias como um rebanho.

42 Veem os *Sl 52.6;Jó 22.19retos e alegram-se;

e toda a *Sl 63.11;Jó 5.16;Rm 3.19iniquidade fechará a boca.

43 Quem é *Sl 64.9;Jr 9.12;Os 14.9sábio observe essas coisas,

e ponderem os que são tais as *Sl 107.1benignidades de Jeová.

1 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;

3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south.*107.3 south: Heb. sea

4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in.

5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.

7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.

8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

10 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;

11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High:

12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.

13 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.

14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and brake their bands in sunder.

15 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

16 For he hath broken the gates of brass, and cut the bars of iron in sunder.

17 Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

18 Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death.

19 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.

20 He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.

21 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

22 And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.*107.22 rejoicing: Heb. singing

23 They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;

24 These see the works of the LORD, and his wonders in the deep.

25 For he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.*107.25 raiseth: Heb. maketh to stand

26 They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.

27 They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end. *107.27 are…: Heb. all their wisdom is swallowed up

28 Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses.

29 He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

30 Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

31 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!

32 Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the assembly of the elders.

33 He turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground;

34 A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.*107.34 barrenness: Heb. saltiness

35 He turneth the wilderness into a standing water, and dry ground into watersprings.

36 And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, that they may prepare a city for habitation;

37 And sow the fields, and plant vineyards, which may yield fruits of increase.

38 He blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; and suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

39 Again, they are minished and brought low through oppression, affliction, and sorrow.

40 He poureth contempt upon princes, and causeth them to wander in the wilderness, where there is no way.*107.40 wilderness: or, void place

41 Yet setteth he the poor on high from affliction, and maketh him families like a flock.*107.41 from: or, after

42 The righteous shall see it, and rejoice: and all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

43 Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
